Ruben Amorim should tell Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos what they must do over proposed transfer swap deal for Man Utd ace– opinion

Ruben Amorim would be wise to deliver one verdict to Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos over a proposed transfer deal involving one first-team Manchester United star.

The 40-year-old Manchester United manager will soon be embarking on the Premier League club’s pre-season campaign in the United States and Europe this month.

The Red Devils’ pre-season tour will come to an end in August ahead of the 2025-26 Premier League season starting, with United facing Arsenal on the opening weekend.

Ruben Amorim has had the opportunity this summer to start the early work of overhauling his United first-team squad ahead of the new season at Old Trafford.

The United head coach arrived at Old Trafford last November and endured a tough start to life at the Premier League club amid the Red Devils’ woeful league form.

United limped to a 15th-place finish in the Premier League table and the Red Devils failed in their bid to secure European football for the 2025-26 campaign.

Ruben Amorim has now seen Alejandro Garnacho linked with a potential Man Utd transfer swap deal with Chelsea

Chelsea have been interested in Alejandro Garnacho and the Blues are reportedly weighing up a stunning transfer swoop for the Manchester United winger.

Alejandro Garnacho’s United future has been up in the air after the 21-year-old Spain-born attacker’s relationship with Ruben Amorim soured last season.

Amorim reportedly told Garnacho to find a new club this summer and the Chelsea-linked player, who has attracted interest from Napoli, is tipped to leave Old Trafford.

Garnacho was critical of Amorim in the post-match interview after the Red Devils boss dropped him for United’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham in May.

The Athletic reports that Christopher Nkunku has been brought up ‘in discussions’ with United and Chelsea are ‘also in touch’ over Red Devils winger Garnacho.

It has been suggested that United and Chelsea could explore a potential deal that includes a swap element, with Christopher Nkunku heading to Old Trafford as a result.

Ruben Amorim should make his feelings clear on Alejandro Garnacho and Christopher Nkunku amid the Man Utd and Chelsea discussions

Christopher Nkunku is under contract with Chelsea until 2029 and the 27-year-old French player reportedly has a price tag of around £35m this summer.

Amorim might find a place for the France international in his tactical system, but the Red Devils boss should make it clear that a straight swap deal is out of the question.

A transfer of Alejandro Garnacho would be pure profit for the Red Devils due to the Argentina winger coming through the United youth academy early in his career.

Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have spoken about United’s limited spending power and a swap deal for Garnacho would only hold back the true benefits for the club.

United should hold out for a hefty transfer fee for Garnacho, irrespective of the Argentina international’s current relationship with Red Devils manager Amorim.
