Speculation about Anthony Elanga’s future at Nottingham Forest has been fueled by a recent social media post.
The Reds ace is wanted by Newcastle United, who have had their eye on him for the past year. The Magpies were rebuffed in their attempts to sign Elanga last summer but have returned again to try their luck.
A £45 million bid from the St James’ Park outfit was rejected by Forest last week. On Tuesday, it then emerged Newcastle had ‘touched base’ again with an improved offer worth more than £50m.
The Reds have no desire to sell and are keen to hang on to the Sweden international. But the transfer talk is not going away, and a video posted on social media has done little to quash the rumours.
A clip has emerged of Elanga dancing with Newcastle’s William Osula. The latter posted a video on TikTok of the two friends dancing and shaking hands.
The footage got supporters from both clubs talking, with Magpies fans taking it as a positive sign a switch to the north east could be on the cards for Elanga. One Newcastle fan went on to upload an image to X from Osula’s Snapchat of the Dane responding to a supporter calling him ‘Agent Osula’ with a sticker of a smirking Thierry Henry.

Elanga and Osula have often commented on each other’s social media posts. Earlier this summer, the Reds star replied to an Osula post about reaching the quarter-finals of the European Under-21 Championship with Denmark with the message: “Not gonna say too much. … keep going ma boy.”
Elanga has already addressed the speculation about his future. He said earlier this summer while on duty for his country: “There is a lot of talk. I focus on what I can do and my focus today was on the match.
“In football there are always rumours. The most important thing is that I focus on what I can control.
“I guess there will always be scouts wherever I play. As long as I stay focused and do my best in the match, I just keep my focus and what I can control. That's what I can do on and off the field. I focus on the next day and action. That's what I can do.”
