Liverpool are reportedly eyeing Lyon winger Malick Fofana as a top target, while Nottingham Forest have now agreed a fee, and Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the situation in his writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter.
After it was confirmed that Lyon will be relegated to Ligue 2 ahead of the 2025/2026 campaign, a host of their players are now being linked with a move away from the club. Fofana is one of those who is starting to attract interest, with suitors likely looking for a bit of a bargain after Lyon's relegation.
Liverpool could be in the market for a left winger in the summer transfer window, with Luis Diaz linked with a departure. The Reds have already strengthened significantly this summer, bringing in Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez.

Romano reported on Tuesday that Forest had agreed a deal to sign Fofana with Lyon, but there was no agreement on the player side. Bayern Munich and Napoli have also made an initial approach, with Fofana assessing his options for the summer transfer window.
Reports had emerged in recent weeks that Liverpool were one of the sides who are showing an interest in signing Fofana, with one outlet suggesting that he was now their top target, with Lyon potentially demanding in the region of £60m. Forest have made a play to secure his signature, but the lack of Champions League football they can offer will make it difficult for them to get a deal over the line.
