Bayern Munich have been linked with Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli and could now make a concrete move for him after Liverpool rejected their approach for Luis Diaz.
Bayern director of sport Max Eberl has been informed that the Reds have no intention of selling the Colombian and will not enter into discussions for him, according to the BBC journalist Sami Mokbel, which could now see them come after his Gunners counterpart.
The Bundesliga club reportedly had both players on their radar and will now likely turn to the Arsenal star in their bid to bolster their attacking options.
The North London club value Martinelli above £50 million and could be open to cashing in on him for the right fee.
He featured in 51 games across all competitions last term, weighing in with ten goals and six assists, and while he remains part of manager Mikel Arteta’s plans for the time being, no significant talks have been held over an extension.
Arsenal are looking to sign another left winger, with talks ongoing with the representatives of Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze, and landing him could see Martinelli move on.
Bayern and other suitors will likely keep monitoring the situation, and retaining him and Leandro Trossard if the England international is signed is almost impossible as the club do not need three left wingers.
Martinelli could still remain an Arsenal player beyond the summer transfer window as nothing is set in motion yet, but the Gunners could do with an upgrade in the position going forward, and selling him could be pertinent given that he is a valuable asset who could strengthen their budget.
