Manchester United have received a major boost in finding a long-term replacement for Casemiro after one midfielder’s price tag has now been cut, according to reports.
Casemiro re-established himself in the Manchester United first-team squad as a key player after Ruben Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford dugout.
The 33-year-old Brazilian midfielder saw a resurgence in the second half of the 2024-25 campaign, especially during United’s Europa League run to the final.
Former Real Madrid star Casemiro found the back of the net five times and secured three assists in his 42 matches across all competitions for United last season.
However, the Brazil international has been met with criticism during his Old Trafford spell after his inconsistent run of form at times after his 2022 transfer to United.
Casemiro is under contract with United until 2026 and the former Los Blancos midfielder will become a free agent next summer once his deal expires.

Man Utd could make a move for Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi as a replacement for Casemiro
Casemiro has been linked with a move away in recent months and the Manchester United midfielder is not getting any younger during his Old Trafford spell.
United could turn their attention to Davide Frattesi as a long-term successor for the former Real Madrid star and Inter Milan are reportedly open to selling the player.
Davide Frattesi is under contract with Inter Milan until 2028 and the midfielder has netted 15 times and registered nine assists in his 89 appearances for the club.
The 25-year-old midfielder first arrived at the San Siro in 2023 after Inter signed him from Sassuolo on a season-long loan, which included an obligation to buy the player.
CaughtOffside now reports that United, Atletico Madrid, Roma and Tottenham are among the clubs that are ‘keeping an eye’ on Frattesi this summer.
The publication claimed that United ‘have shown an interest’ in Frattesi and the Red Devils have contacted Inter for ‘an understanding of the conditions of the deal.’

Inter Milan have brought down their transfer price tag for Italy midfielder Davide Frattesi amid Man Utd’s interest
According to CaughtOffside, Inter have dropped their asking price for the Italy international and had previously been holding out for a £43m (€50m) fee.
However, it is now claimed that the Serie A club would be willing to accept an offer ‘approximately’ worth around £30m (€35m) for Davide Frattesi this summer.
Inter’s lowered price has ‘reignited interest’ in Frattesi and the ‘deal is becoming more attractive’ for European clubs on the market amid United’s interest.
United and Tottenham are ‘reportedly leading the chase’ for the Inter star and both clubs are ‘showing the strongest interest’ in signing Frattesi from the Italian side.
It has been reported that there have not been any formal talks, negotiations or offers with Inter over Frattesi, who is also weighing up his future at the San Siro.
