Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has offered a positive update on his recovery from a serious knee injury, lifting the spirits of fans ahead of the new season.
The Brazilian international suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear during an FA Cup clash against Manchester United in mid-January, which sidelined him for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign. The injury required surgery, and Jesus has since been undergoing a long rehabilitation process.
Nearly six months after the procedure, Jesus took to social media platform X on Monday to share a 35-second video showcasing his progress. Dressed in full Arsenal training gear, the 28-year-old was seen performing a variety of drills, including skipping, resistance band work, explosive lunges into squats, and treadmill running.

“It’s been 6 months since the surgery, it’s great to be able to move around like this again,” Jesus wrote in the caption of his post.

The footage is a welcome sight for Arsenal fans, as well as for manager Mikel Arteta and the club’s medical staff. Jesus has been plagued by recurring knee issues since joining the Gunners from Manchester City in the summer of 2022. With pre-season preparations underway and a demanding fixture list to start the 2025/26 Premier League campaign, his return to fitness could not be more timely.

However, despite Jesus’s recovery, Arsenal are expected to remain active in the transfer market as they look to reinforce their attacking options. The club suffered a significant injury crisis in the second half of last season, with makeshift striker Kai Havertz also undergoing surgery for a hamstring injury. The absence of a recognised No. 9 during crucial matches ultimately hampered Arsenal’s title challenge.
To avoid a repeat scenario, the Gunners are reportedly exploring several striker options. Sporting CP’s prolific forward Viktor Gyökeres remains a top target, while RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike are also under consideration.
While Jesus’s return is a positive development, Arsenal appear determined to ensure they are fully equipped to compete on all fronts in the upcoming season with or without their Brazilian striker at full strength.
