Liverpool star Luis Diaz is in demand as the Reds have rejected an approach from Bayern Munich. Despite winning the Premier League last term, the Colombian's future has come under scrutiny with interest from the Bundesliga and Barcelona, as well as links with a move to Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.
Arne Slot's side have already rebuffed a move from the La Liga champions to sign the former FC Porto forward but now, Diaz has come under the microscope of the German giants as they look to land their attacking target. According to reports, Bayern are in the market for a wide attacker and are in a battle to sign Spain and Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams.
The ECHO understands the Reds are planning for Diaz to be part of the squad that will defend the Premier League title and have not been scouring the market for a replacement on the left wing. Liverpool have had a busy summer already with three key signings in Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong, while Diaz's South American compatriot, Darwin Nunez, faces an uncertain future at Anfield.
With the 28-year-old the subject of interest from Barcelona and Bayern, the ECHO has taken a look at what has been said about his future on Merseyside.
Luis Diaz makes clear admission over Liverpool future
Diaz faced questions about his future when he joined his international teammates after the Reds' title win.
The forward expressed his happiness at the Premier League champions but was open in that talks had been held with other clubs, despite having two years remaining on his contract.
The comments came just days after Hansi Flick's side were rebuffed in their efforts to sign him.
"We are currently in contact with Liverpool, because we are talking to clubs, and that’s normal given the transfer market that’s opening," said Diaz. "We’re trying to arrange what’s best for us.
"We’re talking to clubs, it’s normal in the market and we’re looking at what’s best for us.
"I’m waiting to see what happens. I’m very happy at Liverpool, I’ve always said so. They’ve welcomed me very well from day one.
"If they give us a good renewal or I stay there for two years, I’ll be happy. Now it’s up to them."
Luis Diaz eyes Premier League record with Liverpool
It follows on from an admission in March where he teased a future at Liverpool with his eyes on setting a Premier League record for the most goals in the Premier League as a Colombian.
At the time, he had 25 goals, making him the fourth leading goalscorer from the South American country, four behind Hugo Rodallega, six away from Hamilton Ricard and 19 off Aston Villa icon Juan Pablo Angel.
He is now level with the former Wigan Athletic star on 29 goals after an impressive 13-goal return to fire Liverpool to the Premier League title.
"It's a real pleasure for me to be right there close behind them and I realise that maybe I will catch them at some point. You could say that it's another one of those personal targets that I have. I know that things are going well for me and I'm in decent form," he said.
"What I want the most is to keep making history and, first and foremost, that Colombians who come over to England to play really leave their mark. That's key for us all now – to give a positive image of our country, just like they all did.
"Now those of us here are trying to do just that. I'm very happy with that and we hope to continue doing the same things in future."
Barcelona admission amid Luis Diaz interest
Barcelona have also been interested in the services of the Liverpool attacker.
It has been no secret that Diaz has an affirmation with the Spanish club and his father reinforced the belief that the Colombian was a supporter of the La Liga giants.
Speaking in 2023, Diaz's father described his son as a "loyal" Barcelona supporter and that there would be no problem over a move to Catalonia.
"The truth is that I know very little about Barcelona at the moment. It is true that Luis is a loyal Barcelona fan and it would be his dream to go there," he told Win Sports.
"So far I would like to thank Porto and Liverpool for the way they welcomed him and received him.
"Luis is a player who finds it easy to win over because of the way he is, because of his humility, his work, his dedication, he is a very disciplined player, thank God.
"There would be no problem if Luis came to Barcelona because it is a top team and one of the best in the world."
