Lyon have set a €60m price tag on Malick Fofana (20) as the Belgium international winger attracts interest from a host of Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea. The Independent’s Miguel Delaneyreports that Les Gones could drive up a bidding war to maximise their profit amid the financial difficulties that eventually led them to a Ligue 2 relegation that they plan to appeal.
Fofana joined Lyon from Gant in a €17m move eighteen months ago and his value has skyrocketed since. The 20-year-old winger has logged 15 goals and 7 assists in 62 games played for Les Gones. Former Lyon president John Textor has reportedly planned for Fofana to be sold in the summer during a hearing with the DNCG – Direction Nationale du Contrôle de Gestion, the regulators in French football.
The outlet adds that – besides Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea – Fulham, Nottingham Forest, RB Leipzig, Napoli and Bayern Munich are interested in Fofana’s rather rare skillset.
It has been previously reported that the Trees have agreed a deal with Lyon, but L’Equipe reports that Fofana is very unlikely to sign for Nuno Espirito Santo’s team as he aimed to sign for a major European club qualified for Champions League football. The player’s agency is reportedly in talks with clubs “the size of Bayern Munich and Liverpool.”
