The futures of many Liverpool stars are in doubt and there could be a few surprises before the end of the transfer window.
The Reds have gone bold so far this summer in terms of incomings, and now they could be about to do the same in regard to outgoings as well.
Whether fans like it or not, a few of their favourite players could be on the move this summer, although the big fees that Liverpool could receive may soften the blow.
The likes of Luis Diaz and Harvey Elliott appear the most likely to go at this moment in time, with rumours of their departures persisting ever since the curtain fell on the 2024/25 Premier League season.
However, there is another key player whose future was in doubt earlier on in the summer and, although it appeared more clear in recent weeks, an official Anfield announcement may have just shaken things up.

Alisson’s future in doubt after the departure of Claudio Taffarel
Not often in football can the departure of a coaching staff member affect the future of a player, but the impact of Liverpool’s goalkeeper coach Claudio Taffarel was so big that this might be the case.
The club confirmed that the World Cup winner will be departing this summer after four years at Liverpool, with previous comments suggesting that Alisson could now leave due to the shot-stopper’s love for his fellow countryman.

Back in 2024 when Jurgen Klopp announced his departure, everyone knew there would be major changes behind the scenes, but former goalkeeping coach John Achterberg revealed that keeping Taffarel was one of their best decisions.
“Ali wanted me to stay, he wanted to keep the whole department “The first day it (news of Klopp leaving in January) went out it was a shock for everyone, and Ali said ‘yeah John, but I don’t want to change anything, I want to keep everything,” Achterberg told the Liverpool Echo back in July 2024.
“I said ‘I understand’ but when this happened, my contract is finished at the end of the season. They were smart to at least keep Taffarel, because if they would also change Taffarel, they probably would have told Ali to find a new club basically.”
Now, with Taffarel actually going for good, Alisson may decide to leave, especially as there is plenty of interest in him and Liverpool have strong competition between the sticks next season.
Claudio Taffarel was a ‘role model’ for Alisson
Everyone knows the importance of a goalkeeping coach, but beyond the basics, they still have a huge role to play.
As many of them are ex-keepers themselves, they have the knowledge and experience of being at the top of their game, something Taffarel had in abundance.
His influence certainly rubbed off on Alisson and the Brazilian even admitted just how big a part he has played in his development.
“I think it is really natural from the beginning. Sometimes when you have good friends you don’t need to speak to push each other, you just have to act. I like to work hard, he knows that. And he likes to work hard, I know that,” Alisson told Joe Hart in a Football Daily podcast back in September 2024.
“I think our problem is [making sure] that we don’t push too much – sometimes we have to control a little bit the sessions. But we have a really good relationship as friends and it doesn’t make us more soft to each other, it makes us more hard to each other.
“But we understand each other just in the way we look to each other and we know. So he’s a guy who helps me a lot, not only talking but the way he acts. He is a role model as a person and having him working on my side, I am so lucky for that.”
Whether Alisson now stays or goes is a whole other matter, but what is known is that Taffarel’s loss will be felt immensely.
