Report: Everton hit sudden 'issue' in negotiations to sign Thierno Barry from Villarreal

Everton are closing in on a deal to land Villarreal striker Thierno Barry this summer.

David Moyes will be delighted to see the Toffees move closer to their first new face of the summer transfer window.

It has been a testing month for Everton fans who have had to bide their time in seeing some new signings made under the Friedkins.

But Everton are close to agreeing a deal for Barry to make the move from Villarreal to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Following the departure of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, additions up top became even more important for the Blues.

Everton are prioritising attacking signings, but there is still one major hurdle to overcome before Barry signs on the dotted line.

Everton facing Thierno Barry issue

Everton have been pushing Villarreal for a deal on Barry, and it finally looks as if the two clubs are nearing a full agreement.

Despite the Spanish outfit offering Champions League football, Barry is keen to move to Everton this summer.

However, according to Wednesday’s edition of AS, Barry is now only being separated with a move to Merseyside by bureaucratic issues.

Although it was not specified exactly what those issues were, a deal for the young striker is believed to be very close.

Barry is currently on holiday in Miami after teasing a photo on his Instagram story at a check-in desk at an airport on Tuesday.

Having played in the U21 Euros, it is now time for Barry to enjoy some down time, but Everton fans will want to see him in a blue shirt sooner rather than later.

David Moyes and Barry are both in Miami

Ironically, Moyes is also in Miami this summer after taking base in Florida last month to take in some of the Club World Cup games.

This will be a total coincidence, but it will certainly raise the question whether the 62-year-old will try and make contact with the Everton target.

Moyes will potentially already have spoken to Barry about the potential move to Merseyside this summer.

But the Scot will surely enjoy the opportunity to meet the youngster in person and get to know him a little better.
