This summer transfer window has been one of the most important of recent times for Manchester United, and unfortunately, they’re now set to miss out on yet another top target.
United suffered their worst Premier League result on record, coming in 15th overall and missing out on European football for the first time since 2014.
Now, with the club facing severe financial difficulties, and without European football to support both economically and with a lure for new signings, the Red Devils are struggling.
Admittedly United have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, triggering his release clause for £62.5 million, however they’ve arranged a sustainable payment plan to avoid an immediate financial hit.

United are set to pay Wolves three instalments of £20.85 million across two and a half years to bring the Brazilian attacker to Old Trafford.
Now, the club are prioritising the move of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, however The Bees are demanding more of the expected £65 million fee upfront.
Unfortunately for the Red Devils, the negotiations have been extremely slow, being a month now since Mbeumo highlighted his desire to move to Old Trafford.
With no sales being made either, United have been stuck, unable to pursue other deals, missing out on some top stars.

The Mirror have now reported that United are accepting defeat in the race for Viktor Gyokeres as Premier League rivals Arsenal appear to have agreed personal terms for the Sporting CP star.
It’s understood that Ruben Amorim’s side are now backing away from the Sweden international, turning their attention elsewhere.
If Viktor Gyokeres does join The Gunners, he would mark the second top striker target that United have missed out on following Liam Delap’s move to Chelsea.
United now need to move quickly on the deal for Mbeumo and to get sales across the line to avoid missing out on any more key targets who would be vital to helping the struggling side bounce back next season.
