The Club World Cup is nearing its completion. The group stage of the tournament has been finalised, and the knockout rounds are reaching the quarter-final stage. PSG is gearing up for their hardest game of the tournament when they play Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals.
They find themselves here after dispatching Lionel Messi's Inter Miami 4-0 in the previous round. The French champions will be eager to get one over Vincent Kompany's side as they beat them in the group stage of the Champions League. If Luis Enrique's side beats them, they will believe that they can win the tournament. Here at PSG Post, we discuss where the game will be won and lost.
PSG's fullbacks vs Bayern Munich's wingers
------------------------------------------
The European champions have the best fullbacks in the world in Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes. They will be tasked with dealing with Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala, who are world-class players in their own right. Olise had an excellent first season with Bayern Munich, while Musiala is getting better each season with the German champions.
In Olise's first season, he has scored 12 goals and registered 15 assists in 34 games. Olise's output is not a surprise as he performed well in his last season with Crystal Palace. He could be extra motivated to perform against some of his French teammates.
Harry Kane vs PSG's centrebacks
-------------------------------
Harry Kane finally got his elusive trophy with Bayern Munich when he won the Bundesliga with them last season. Ironically, he left Spurs as he wanted to win a trophy. He scored 26 goals in 31 Bundesliga games last season.
He has formed a good partnership with Olise, who has assisted with most of his goals. Marquinhos and Willian Pacho need to have a brilliant game to keep the England international quiet. Keeping Kane quiet improves their chances of winning the game as he is the Bavarians' biggest goal threat.
The midfield battle
-------------------
PSG have two midfielders that can control the nature of a game in the shape of Vitinha and João Neves. They have good chemistry, having played alongside each other in the Portuguese national team. Bayern Munich have quality midfielders themselves in the shape of Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich (if he doesn't play right back).
Games are usually won and lost in midfield, so whichever midfield plays better could go a long way to determining the outcome of the game. Vitinha and Neves are young and fearless, so they won't be fazed by the Bayern Munich duo.
