Liverpool’s coaching team is already seeing change before the new season kicks off. Two key members from Arne Slot’s staff are officially leaving the club, bringing an end to a short but impactful stint at Anfield.
The Reds, fresh off their Premier League title win, are now shaping things for life under Slot.
But it’s not just about who comes in — it’s also about who moves on. And for goalkeeping coaches Fabian Otte and Claudio Taffarel, the final whistle at Liverpool has blown.
Otte, who joined just last summer, is departing after only one season with the club. His stay may have been short, but he played a role in helping the goalkeeping unit stay sharp throughout a demanding campaign.
Taffarel, meanwhile, leaves behind a deeper legacy. A World Cup winner with Brazil, Taffarel joined Liverpool in 2021 during Jürgen Klopp’s reign and stayed on for Slot’s debut season. He was seen as a strong influence on Alisson Becker — both technically and personally.

Arne Slot’s Liverpool coaching staff see changes
Alisson once spoke about Taffarel, saying:
“Taffarel makes me maintain this high level since he came to Liverpool… I thought it would be a great thing for me to have him here daily, and he brought a lot more for me in these last few years.”
Taffarel’s bond with Alisson was clearly more than just coach-player — it was mentor and mate. And his departure could leave a noticeable gap, both on and off the pitch.
But it’s not all exits. Former Netherlands captain Giovanni van Bronckhorst is joining as assistant coach.
A proven name with titles at Feyenoord and success in Europe with Rangers, van Bronckhorst is expected to bring strong leadership and experience to Slot’s bench.
In the goalkeeping department, Xavi Valero is back as head coach. A familiar face from Rafa Benitez’s time, Valero brings solid experience, most recently from West Ham.
As the Reds reload for another shot at silverware, it’s clear Arne Slot is shaping a backroom team that matches his style — no fluff, all function.
