Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo has hinted he spoke to Luis Diaz about his future - declaring he likes ‘to play with the best’ after meeting the Liverpool forward on holiday. The Reds star has the subject of rejected bids for Barca and Bayern Munich.
The Reds are adamant they want to retain the Colombian's services and have no plans to sell this summer. But while they are relaxed about his situation, Diaz is keen to discuss an improved contract after entering the final two years of his current deal.
The 28-year-old - who is also attracting interest from Saudi Arabia - has regularly been linked with a move to Barcelona over the past two seasons.
He then set tongues wagging after he was pictured with Barca star Olmo on holiday in Ibiza last month.
And after that photograph, the Spain international has praised Diaz while hinting he would like to play alongside him and Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams for the La Liga champions, though he remained tight-lipped about their exact conversation.
“If we talk about it, I'll keep it to myself,” Olmo said, as quoted by Goal. “It was a private conversation. I didn't know him. He's a great person.
“He's a world-class player, and Barca should have the best players. He's proven it. He's a world-class striker and winger, there's no doubt about that.
“Nico (Williams) is another example. I tell Nico that everything will be resolved. There may be some doubts, but I have full confidence in the club.
“I don't know anything. We'll talk during the holidays. Nico is a special player, but we have to respect the fact that he's not a Barca player. We are aiming to sign the best players.
“Nico is a great player. He's shown the level he brings with his club and the national team. We already know how he would adapt. I love playing with the best."

Diaz previously admitted that his representatives were in contact with other clubs due to a perceived stagnation over talks about a new contract with the Premier League champions.
"We are currently in contact with Liverpool, because we are talking to clubs, and that’s normal given the transfer market that’s opening," Diaz said on international duty last month. "We’re trying to arrange what’s best for us.
“We’re talking to clubs, it’s normal in the market and we’re looking at what’s best for us. I’m waiting to see what happens. I’m very happy at Liverpool, I’ve always said so. They’ve welcomed me very well from day one.
“If they give us a good renewal or I stay there for two years, I’ll be happy. Now it’s up to them.”
