Pittsburgh Steelers weapons travel to Malibu for private workouts with Aaron Rodgers

Pittsburgh Steelers players have traveled out to Malibu, California, to join quarterback Aaron Rodgers for private workouts this week. Rodgers said on the Pat McAfee Show that he would invite his wide receivers, tight ends, and running backs out.

“I know coming out to Malibu might not be that high on everybody’s list,” Rodgers said last week. “But we do have some guys coming out next week. So it’ll be fun to spend a little time with them.”

From the photos and videos posted, it is known that Calvin Austin III and Ben Skowronek made the trip. In a video posted to Skowronek’s Instagram, Rodgers threw up a lob to Skowronek in a gym, with Skowronek landing a dunk.

Rodgers has organized a similar meeting with many of his teammates. Tight Pat Freiermuth said on the Around the 412 podcast that he, Darnell Washington, and Roman Wilson were also expected to make the trip.

DK Metcalf will likely be around, too, but he trains in Los Angeles during the offseason. Rodgers and Metcalf worked out together in April before Rodgers signed with the Steelers.

“I didn’t really know DK at all, and he’s like, ‘I work out at 6 a.m. every day.’ I’m like, ‘OK, alrighty. This guy has discipline; this guy has a drive,’” Rodgers said. “I said, ‘How about 8 o’clock?’ Because I have to drive from Malibu to UCLA. He said, ‘Yea, that’s fine.’”

Rodgers and Metcalf continued their workout sessions until the deadline. Now, Metcalf will make the trip up to Malibu to join Rodgers and his Steelers teammates as they look to build chemistry with the four-time MVP.
