Everton have an eye on their future as David Moyes hopes for reinforcements this summer transfer window.

Michael Keane’s future at Bramley-Moore Dock has been up in the air in recent weeks, with his contract at the Toffees expiring at the start of July, but the Merseysiders have been in talks with the centre-back.

The likes of Ashley Young, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dominic Calvert-Lewin won’t be part of Moyes’ squad next season after their deals at Goodison Park came to an end.

With the Blues moving to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, they have pulled off a massive agreement, arguably handing the Scottish manager a significant boost.

The Blues announced on Instagram (2 July) that the 23-year-old defender has secured his stay until 2030, and fans will undoubtedly be delighted with the development.

Keane has also expressed his apparent delight at his former teammate’s contract extension, liking the Merseyside outfit’s social media post.

Moyes will now hope that the Blues can retain the former Manchester United ace this summer as he arguably needs depth in the backline.

Moyes must push for new Keane contract at Hill Dickinson Stadium

There’s confidence among the Toffees hierarchy that Moyes will have Keane at his disposal for next season.

A new contract for the 32-year-old could also be announced, but only time will tell how long it takes to be finalised.

While the English centre-back arguably won’t be first-choice at the Merseyside outfit in the upcoming campaign, his presence will be essential.

Everton undoubtedly need substantial squad depth to make further progress next season after finishing 13th in the Premier League.

Keane provided cover in defence in the previous campaign when Branthwaite was injured.

The 32-year-old put in some decent performances under Sean Dyche, and it would make sense to keep him as a backup.

Moyes preferred James Tarkowski’s partnership with Branthwaite after replacing the ex-Burnley head coach, and it paid dividends as the Toffees turned their form around.

The situation in Merseyside will be worth keeping an eye on, as developments should be expected in the coming hours
