Arsenal are set to make an improved offer for Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera, MailOnline journalist Simon Jones has revealed.
The Gunners will reportedly submit a revised bid to sign the promising Spanish centre-back, as they sense growing determination from Valencia to keep the 21-year-old this summer.
Valencia have appointed former Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay as their new CEO and have made a counter offer to Mosquera, who is believed to be keen on a summer switch to the Emirates.
The Spanish club rejected Arsenal’s opening offer, worth €14m (£12m), last week and remain eager to retain the ‘incredible’ defender’s services at the club.

Valencia are likely to sell Mosquera if they are unable to agree a new contract this summer, as the Spaniard has now entered the final year of his deal.
As a result, Arsenal are now seeking a low-cost deal to bring the 21-year-old to North London, with reports claiming the Gunners hope to get the deal done for a fee just over €20m (£17m).
Mosquera, who made his Valencia first-team debut in January 2022, has emerged as one of the most promising central defenders in Europe since then and has been a cornerstone of the Spanish club’s backline for the past two seasons.
Arsenal’s summer business has picked up pace in recent days, as the North London club are now close to finalising deals for midfielders Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard.
The Gunners are also expected to add to their forward options this summer, with Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko remaining among striker targets.
