Manchester United’s summer transfer strategy has been clear so far: strengthen the attack and find more creativity behind the striker.
Matheus Cunha’s early arrival and the ongoing pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo point to a rebuilt attacking midfield with energy, versatility, and flair.
But even with those reinforcements, the glaring issue remains.
United still lack a reliable, clinical No.9 to lead the line.

Rasmus Hojlund struggled with consistency last season, netting just four league goals.
Staff at Carrington including Amorim are believed to have placed Hojlund ‘on trial’, as frustrations continue to grow.
Meanwhile Joshua Zirkzee’s profile is more suited to a supporting striker role rather than a pure striker.
Now, talks have recently resurfaced about United reviving their interest in Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku.
With the possibility of a deal involving Alejandro Garnacho heading in the opposite direction.
Ex-United striker Louis Saha has weighed in on the idea and didn’t hold back, urging United to move Garnacho on.

“As for Garnacho, if he wants to go, get rid of him,” Saha told Coin Poker.
“I used to be a huge fan, but that’s over.
“Anyone like this, if they want to go, go.
“Even if you lose money, it doesn’t matter, because you can bring in a player who can behave as they should.”
Saha added that Nkunku’s professionalism, motivation ahead of the World Cup, and versatility could benefit United’s dressing room and tactical setup.
“I think Nkunku knows if he plays well, he can get back in the French squad for the summer.
“At the same time, he’s not the kind of player who disrupts the dressing room.”
While such a move would involve two separate deals for PSR reasons, it’s one United could fall back on if other striker pursuits fall through.
Although Nkunku still doesn’t fit the mould of a true No.9 – having thrived as a shadow striker at RB Leipzig.
