Arsenal are accelerating their push to sign Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze, with the England international increasingly open to a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Manager Mikel Arteta is looking to inject greater creativity and tactical versatility into his squad following a season that was disrupted by injuries to key players. Eze, who impressed for Palace in both wide and central roles, has emerged as a leading target to strengthen Arsenal’s attacking options.

With club captain Martin Ødegaard struggling to regain full form after ankle surgery last September, the Gunners often lacked creative depth throughout the 2024/25 campaign. Eze’s ability to operate as both a No. 10 and on either wing makes him an ideal fit for Arteta’s system as Arsenal look to mount another serious title challenge.

The 27-year-old has also attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur, but he is understood to prefer a return to Arsenal, the club that released him at the age of 13. Talks between the Gunners and Eze’s representatives have already taken place, focusing on salary expectations and the structure of his release clause.

According toThe Evening Standard, Arsenal are keen to negotiate a fee below the reported £68 million release clause, which Crystal Palace are insisting must be met in full. The clause could be paid in three installments, but Palace are showing no signs of backing down in their valuation.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reported that direct talks were held between Arsenal and Eze’s camp on Monday. During those discussions, the Gunners were informed of the player’s £67.5 million clause, which could rise to £68 million with add-ons, triggered by an impressive 2024/25 season in which Eze scored 11 goals and provided six assists in 31 appearances.

Eze’s potential arrival is part of a broader strategy at Arsenal to bolster their frontline. According toThe Athletic, the club views the Palace star as a separate target from their pursuit of a new striker and left winger. The Gunners are aiming to secure three major attacking additions this summer.

RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres are among the names under consideration to lead the line, while Real Madrid’s Rodrygo and Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon have been linked as wide attacking options.

With Arsenal actively working on multiple fronts to strengthen their squad, and negotiations progressing for Eze, the North London side appear set for another ambitious summer as they prepare to challenge on all fronts in the 2025/26 campaign.
