Cody Gakpo was in fine form for Liverpool throughout the 2024-25 Premier League season.
The attacker was one of Arne Slot’s regular first-team players and often performed to the highest standards possible.
Gakpo is naturally a left-winger, but due to the poor form of players such as Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota this season, the Dutchman has been used as a number nine.
Teams such as Bayern Munich have recently shown an interest in Diaz and Gakpo, but with Liverpool staying firm, both will likely be within Slot’s plans next term.

Liverpool do, however, need to sell some of their players to recoup the money they’ve spent, with the exit of one player now being confirmed.
Cody Gakpo sends message to Jarell Quansah after Liverpool exit
Liverpool have been very busy in the transfer market this season, with the Reds breaking their club record fee to bring in Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.
Others, such as Freddie Woodman and Milos Kerkez, have also been signed, which has certainly put a massive dent in Slot’s war chest.
On Wednesday, a Liverpool exit was finally confirmed with Jarell Quansah finally sealing his move to Bayer Leverkusen.

The defender has long been linked with a move to the Bundesliga, with the transfer now being confirmed.
Slot didn’t play the Englishman as much as he should’ve done last season, despite Alexis Mac Allister calling him “amazing” after the effort he put in against Brighton during Liverpool’s 2-1 win back in April 2024.
After his exit was made official, Quansah put out a heartfelt post via his Instagram account reflecting on the time he’d spent with the club.
This sparked a reaction from former teammate Cody Gakpo, who simply commented a fire and heart emoji.
Jarell Quansah must go and prove his worth
There’s no denying that Quansah is an exceptional talent. The defender was one of the many academy players that Jurgen Klopp entrusted to give their debuts for the club.
However, with the form that Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate were putting on display last season, there wasn’t a way into the team for him.
He more than deserves to be a first-team regular for a club, as, despite being just 22 years old, he already has plenty of in-game intelligence and can command the defensive line if and when needed.

Liverpool do have a buy-back clause in the deal for Quansah, so if he manages to fulfil his potential, the Reds will have first dibs on the defender.
Only time will tell what the future has in store, but for now, Quansah needs to focus on hitting the ground running and making a case for his inclusion in England’s 2026 World Cup squad.
