Newcastle United are closing in on a deal for Liverpool hot prospect Isaac Moran, with the 16-year-old expected to move to Tyneside.

The Mail report that United are close to agreeing terms with the former England schoolboys captain, after he turned down a contract offer at Anfield.

Moran played three times for Liverpool at Under-18 level last season and represented England at Under-15 level.

He predominantly plays as a central defender but can also play as a deep lying midfielder.

It is part of United's bid to bring the best young talent to St James' Park, with Moran's passing ability praised on Merseyside.

United have already won the race to sign 16-year-old winger Alfie Hutchison, who will arrive from Glasgow Rangers this summer, while they are looking to bring Oliver Goodbrand from Ibrox to Tyneside.

The 16-year-old is a left-sided defender who has captained Scotland at youth level and impressed in the youth ranks at Ibrox.

However, one player who could be leaving Newcastle's academy is 14-year-old Ethan Fullen, with Manchester City looking to bring him to the North West.

The forward scored for United's Under-15s against a J-League Under 15 Select XI in 2024 when aged just 13.
