Reds confirm exit of 'important' ace as Harvey Elliott attracts interest from PL rival: Wednesday's Liverpool transfer…

Liverpool have found themselves at the centre of attention for a whole host of transfers this season.

Arne Slot and Richard Hughes have spent close to £200million on shoring the Reds’ ranks this summer, with Florian Wirtz’s move from Bayer Leverkusen even breaking the club-record fee.

A lot of the Anfield outfit’s business has been conducted early, and while this is good as it’s clear which players they targeted, it doesn’t leave them with much negotiating power, especially if they want to bring some new faces in.

Five new players have now been brought through the welcome doors, so it isn’t a surprise to see Liverpool turning their focus towards getting rid of some players.

Here, Rousing the Kop goes over the latest transfer news to have emerged from Anfield on Wednesday, 2 July.

As mentioned, Liverpool have been one of the busiest teams in the transfer market this summer.

The Reds have welcomed an abundance of new talent through the Anfield doors over the last month or so but it seems like they’re not ready to stop there.

That is, according to a report from BBC Sport journalist Phil McNulty, who says that once Liverpool have sold a player or two, they’ll be back in the market for a centre-back and a striker.

Although no names are specifically mentioned in the report, players such as Crystal Palace’s captain Marc Guehi and Viktor Gyokeres have both been linked with a Merseyside switch in recent weeks.

Even after his heroics for England’s Under-21s at the Euros, Jarell Quansah’s future was set in stone.

The Englishman has had his transfer to Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen confirmed, with the defender moving to the club for a fee worth around £35million including add-ons.

The Reds do have a buy-back clause included in the deal should they wish to bring him back in the future, but at the moment, Quansah’s departure feels like the best thing for both parties, even if Alexis Mac Allister did describe him as “important.”

And, with the 22-year-old now gone, Slot can focus his attention on bringing his replacement in, especially since Ibrahima Konate’s future is still unknown.

Over the last few days, Harvey Elliott has been the talk of the town at Liverpool.

The midfielder put on some fantastic displays at the Under-21 Euros, with the former Fulham man being one of the main reasons why England came home with the trophy.

A plethora of teams have been linked with him, but now, Newcastle have chosen to enter the race with Eddie Howe’s men looking to seal a deal for around £40million.

The Magpies do, however, see Elliott as their second option, as their first bid for Anthony Elanga was rejected by Nottingham Forest.
