Liverpool are now less than a week away from starting pre-season and have already made six signings during this summer transfer window. They agreed on the arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili last year before adding Armin Pesci and Freddie Woodman as additional goalkeepers over recent weeks.

The Reds began their business with a move for Jeremie Frimpong, followed by a club-record deal for Florian Wirtz, with Milos Kerkez then joining those two last month.

All the rumours now mainly revolve around a central defender and a striker. Here is a round-up of the most recent reports:

Who?

Alexander Isak, the Newcastle United centre-forward who has scored 62 goals since signing from Real Sociedad for around £63million three years ago. However, the Sweden international has not agreed on any new deal since that move, meaning his current contract expires in 2028.

What?

The widely held view is that Isak would be Liverpool's dream signing. He is an option the Reds could pursue if they receive any encouragement later this summer.

They would not baulk at the player's prospective wages and would have no issues improving the sort of offer that would make him Newcastle's highest earner.

Where?

Mick Brown, the former chief scout of multiple Premier League clubs, has told Football Insider that Newcastle are confident Isak will stay. He claims to have heard the club are speaking to their striker about a new contract.

They are said to have made progress on a deal that could make him the highest-paid player in their history. Interest from Arsenal and Liverpool is acknowledged, but it is reputedly unlikely.

Who?

Marc Guehi, the Crystal Palace defender who Liverpool are interested in. Links with the Reds emerged after last summer's European Championship and are now reemerging this year.

What?

Liverpool are playing a waiting game over Guehi as they deliberate when to make a move for the defender. The Reds are admirers of the England international but are currently prioritising recruiting a younger central defender with potential, as they would need Palace to lower their asking price.

Where?

The Italian journalist Nicolo Schira claims Liverpool and Guehi have an agreement in principle on a five-year contract after positive talks with his agents. He is said to be pushing for a move with the Reds, allegedly, in negotiations with Palace to reach a deal.

Who?

Luis Diaz. The Liverpool forward has two years remaining on his contract and is the subject of constant links to Barcelona.

What?

Liverpool have no plans to sell Diaz this summer after rejecting an approach from Bayern Munich and are unwilling to let the player leave. Barcelona also made a tentative approach last month that the club instantly dismissed.

Where?

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl reportedly contacted Diaz and discussed the specifics of an offer after focusing on the player who has been on their shortlist for a while. BILD claims the Colombia international is eyeing a move, with Real Madrid recently in talks.
