Rasmus Hojlund has endured a difficult adjustment to life in the Premier League, with his struggles becoming more apparent over the past season.

The Danish striker has failed to adapt to the physicality in England, often finding himself outmuscled and outthought by opposition defenders.

After a promising debut campaign saw him score 16 goals in all competitions, Hojlund’s output dropped significantly.

He netted just 10 in 52 appearances last season, with only four coming in the Premier League.

It has been said that members at Carrington have lost huge confidence in Hojlund, with coaching staff now seeing him as ‘on trial’, in order to revive his United career.

According to Talk of the Devils Podcast, from journalist Laurie Whitwell, Rasmus Hojlund is now more likely to leave Manchester United than stay this summer.

Inter Milan remain interested in the Dane, having tracked him before his move to Old Trafford.

They continue to monitor his situation closely, despite recently having a bid rejected.

There is now a growing sense that a fresh environment might suit both the player and the club.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be well aware of the need to avoid splashing large amounts on unpolished players again.

Fans have grown frustrated with Hojlund’s lack of refinement.

Particularly his raw decision-making when attacking spaces and his inconsistent ball-striking in front of goal.

The early arrival of Matheus Cunha is seen as a much-needed injection of quality and versatility in the final third.

While the expected addition of Bryan Mbeumo will also add flair and creativity.

Still, a reliable, polished No.9 remains essential for United’s rebuild.

United will need to make sure a striker is brought in to replace Hojlund.

Whether it’s Viktor Gyokeres who continues to remain linked, or Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins.

The Red Devils must make sure they get it right this summer, if they are to help turn Ruben Amorim’s fortunes around.
