Legendary halftime performer Red Panda suffers scary fall during iconic act

Basketball fans across the world are hoping for the best after a legendary halftime performer took a scary fall.

The incident involving Rong Niu, better known as the acrobat Red Panda, suffered a rare misstep and fell during her routine at the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup final between the Minnesota Lynx and Indiana Fever on Tuesday.

Red Panda is a mainstay across the NBA, WNBA and college basketball. Her well-known act involves riding a 7-foot-tall unicycle while catching and balancing multiple metal bowls on her feet and head.

Video on social media showed Niu falling from her iconic unicycle less than a minute into her performance. She needed help getting off the floor and was eventually wheeled away.

Basketball fans across the country were offering their support and well wishes after the video spread across social media.

The severity of injuries are unknown, but Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files reported she left the court clutching her left wrist, which appeared to have taken the worst of the fall.

A WNBA source told ESPN that she was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
