When the Detroit Lions desperately needed pass rush help during the 2024 NFL season, they turned to the trade market for a solution.
They ended up making a deal that landed them Za'Darius Smith to fill in for Aidan Hutchinson after an injury ended his season.
This offseason, their situation is much less dire, but they still find themselves needing another pass rusher.

A to Z Sports' Mike Payton, Kyle Crabbs, and Easton Freeze came together to concoct a three-team trade idea that would get the Lions a bit of help on the edge and also address another issue.
The deal would see the Lions add Baltimore Ravens edge Tavius Robinson and Tennessee Titans QB Will Levis. The Ravens would get Titans defensive tackle Keondre Coburn and Detroit's 2026 fourth-round pick.
Meanwhile, the Titans would get Lions edge Al-Quadin Muhammad and a 2026 fifth-round pick each from the Lions and Ravens.
Levis would be a good fit for the Lions. Drafting him hasn't really worked out for the Titans, but he is undoubtedly better than Kyle Allen and Hendon Hooker.
He also has the potential to get his career back on track with some time to develop on the bench behind Jared Goff.
The Lions need some certainty behind Goff after having to bring Teddy Bridgewater out of retirement for the playoffs. Levis didn't give the Titans much certainty the last couple of years, but he could bring it to the Lions' bench.
Robinson is the more important part of this trade. He is certainly not the answer to the team's pass rush concerns that Lions fans would be hoping for.
He has even less career production than Marcus Davenport, who is currently expected to start in the team's second defensive end slot. Robinson has just 4.5 career sacks.
He had 3.5 of those in 2024, which was his second NFL season.
That could lead to some hope that the former fourth-round pick would continue to progress in 2025.
The Lions should be aiming higher with some veterans still available in free agency who could have a noticeable impact on the defense.
However, at this point the Lions just need to do something to potentially make their pass rush better.
This hypothetical move would at least give them somebody with some more potential to line up in their second starting spot on the edge and get the team a better backup QB at the same time.
