Fabrizio Romano has issued an update surrounding a potential Jadon Sancho departure at Old Trafford.
Man United offered Juventus trio for Jadon Sancho
Sancho returned to Man United after Chelsea opted against paying his £25m obligation to buy as the English winger couldn’t agree on personal terms with the Blues after what was a successful loan spell.
There has been interest from the Serie A, with Juventus and Napoli both said to be keen on the 25-year-old. Juventus seem the most likely destination for the winger as things stand, and Fabrizio Romano wrote in GiveMeSport that there are three Juventus players that Man United could get offered in exchange for Sancho. The Italian club don’t want to buy Sancho outright, due to his hefty wages of over £200,000 per week at United.
Romano has said that former Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz could be included in a swap too, as his first year in Turin has not gone as well as hoped. Luiz made 27 appearances last season for Juventus, but he failed to score or assist. Juventus signed him for £44.2m last summer, but he is now worth an estimated £25.7m. He could help to fill the void left by the departing Christian Eriksen, whose contract at Man United expired this month.
New name could be included in a Sancho swap
Both Vlahovic and Luiz have been linked with a move to Man United in the past. However, Romano has suggested that a new name could be included in a swap deal with Sancho, as more of a direct swap.
He confirmed that Tim Weah could be included in a swap deal too, which would make more sense in terms of a like-for-like swap. The 25-year-old, much like Sancho, is in need of a fresh start as he has been competing for first-team football at Juventus.
Despite his lack of consistent starts, Weah did produce last season, making 43 appearances, scoring six goals and providing five assists. He can play both on the left and the right wing, but also as a full back, making him a great option for United, as he could play in one of Amorim’s wing-back spots, which the United boss has failed to consistently fill so far.
