Man United are willing to cover a percentage of Marcus Rashford’s wages if it means receiving a higher transfer fee, according to their former chief scout.
Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford for over a decade during the club’s most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that they are struggling to attract offers because of his demands.
Ruben Amorim’s side “ideally” plan to accept £40million offers for their academy graduate, but could instead be forced to accept reduced terms.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 1 July that Man United are expecting low offers for Rashford as moving him on has become increasingly difficult.
The Red Devils are in a weak negotiating position as the forward’s desire to leave has played out publicly, but they are determined to make good money from the sale.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Newcastle are interested in signing Rashford but only if United cover a large percentage of his wages.

Man United to pay Marcus Rashford wages amid Barcelona reveal
Brown told Football Insider last month that Rashford could take a pay cut to leave Old Trafford, with Barcelona his preferred destination as things stand.
Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment and also worked for the likes of Tottenham, Aston Villa and West Ham, insisted the only way to get a deal over the line for a good price would be to cover his wages.
“*Man United are open to covering Rashford’s wages,*” he told Football Insider.
“They want to get a decent fee for him, around £40million ideally, but they’re finding it difficult.
“The way they see it, they’re prepared to take a certain amount of losses and could factor a percentage of his wages into that if they get a good fee up front.
“That might be the only way they get a big offer.
“If the choice is, you get £40million but have to pay part of his wages, or you only get say £25million, they’re going to take the first one all day.
“They’re not going to get what his market value might usually be because everyone knows he’s leaving.
“And there are very few teams out there who could afford his wages, or who will be willing to pay them.
“Somebody’s going to have to take a hit, whether it’s Man United or Marcus Rashford, because it looks like there’s no way he’ll stay into next season.”

Bryan Mbeumo update emerges at Old Trafford
Talk about Rashford’s future is set to drag on at Old Trafford, but in the meantime they are focusing on bringing in new additions to strengthen Amorim’s side.
Brown exclusively told Football Insider on 1 July that United are close to an agreement with Brentford to sign Bryan Mbeumo with a third bid to be made “in the coming days”.
Amorim’s side are confident that they will get the deal done despite seeing two bids rejected, after the forward made clear his desire to join the Red Devils.
Brown told Football Insider on 24 June that Man United are pushing to sign Mbeumo and talks have continued with Brentford “behind closed doors”.
