After an eventful offseason, the Seattle Seahawks’ roster is now mostly in place for the 2025 campaign.
But like any team, there’s still time to make another move or two. And as evidenced by ESPN’s recently published list of the top 17 remaining free agents, there’s still some talent left on the market.
Insider: One final offseason move the Seahawks should make
During Wednesday’s Blue 88 segment on Seattle Sports’ Brock and Salk, former NFL quarterback Brock Huard was asked if any of those available free agent piqued his interest for the Seahawks.
Huard went with eight-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro edge rusher Von Miller, who leads all active players with 129.5 sacks over his decorated 13-year career.
At age 36, Miller is well past his prime. His last Pro Bowl selection came in 2019 and the last of his seven double-digit sack seasons came in 2018.
But Miller still had 6.0 sacks last season with the Buffalo Bills, while ranking 11th out of 119 edge defenders in Pro Football Focus grading.
Huard thinks Miller could still be an effective rotational pass rusher to augment an already-strong Seahawks edge-rushing unit that includes Boye Mafe, Derick Hall, Uchenna Nwosu and veteran free agent addition DeMarcus Lawrence. Miller also could provide some insurance with Nwosu and Lawrence both coming off injuries that limited them to a combined 10 games last season.
“You’re not gonna count on (Miller) in any way to be a three-down player,” Huard said. “But as a specialist – depending on (Seattle’s edge rusher) health through training camp and what they all look like – he would be kind of the guy out of those 17 (remaining free agents). He’d be the one I think they’ve done their homework on, they’ve kicked their tires on a little bit.”

Huard said that Miller – and other veterans on ESPN’s list – could be waiting until training camp and the preseason to find an ideal fit. Around that time, as teams gain a clearer look at where players are at from both a health and level-of-play standpoint, another small flurry of free-agent signings tend to occur.
“Those veterans are in the same boat too,” Huard said. “They’re looking at all the different situations. I’m sure many of those guys have been offered deals, but they’ve looked at it and said, no, now is not the best time for me. … Let me see how training camp unfolds in different places, where the best fit is for me, for my skill set, and where it is for the team on the other side.”
