After six years of college basketball, Juwan Gary will get his first shot at the NBA in July.
The former Nebraska forward will play for the Los Angeles Clippers’ summer league team, a source confirmed.
The Clippers will begin play July 11 in Las Vegas against the Houston Rockets. For Gary, the summer league is effectively a tryout to remain in the organization, although it’s uncommon for invitees without contracts to end up on the regular-season team.
Gary is the second former Husker to get a professional opportunity this offseason. Brice Williams signed a contract with the Detroit Pistons the day after the NBA Draft.
Gary spent three seasons at Nebraska, transferring from Alabama in 2022. He averaged 14.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in his final year. In Las Vegas, he’ll return to the site of his last college action, the city where he was named MVP of the College Basketball Crown after NU won the inaugural tournament.
