The New York Knicks are coming off quite the playoff run. They finished the regular season with one of the best offenses in the league, finishing as the No. 5 team in offensive efficiency and went into the NBA Playoffs with the No. 3 seed.
In the first round, they faced off against the Detroit Pistons, who hadn't won a playoff game since 2008. While it took Jalen Brunson living up to his Clutch Player of the Year award billing, the Knicks went on to win the series 4-2.
Reviews pour in after Knicks hire Mike Brown
They then defeated the defending champion Boston Celtics, despite being underdogs before the series, to set up a matchup with the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Knicks and Pacers have a lengthy rivalry, so this was just the latest development in their storied series.
Unfortunately, the Knicks fell in that series, making it the second consecutive season the Pacers eliminated them. Some would think advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 25 years would be deemed a success. The Knicks' upper brass didn't think of it that way, as they fired Tom Thibodeau.
After a lengthy search, the Knicks hired former Sacramento Kings head coach Mike Brown to replace Thibodeau. Fans had their reactions following the news.
"Not bad but is he really a better coach than Thibs," asked one fan.
"All that scrambling after Dolan fired Thibs only to hire a worse coach. Doesn't move me at all. Not a championship-level coach. Hope I'm wrong," expressed another fan.
"Good signing by the Knicks. Sacramento fumbled big time, firing him just because they wanted to please Fox," said another fan.
"Mike Brown will be a perfect fit in New York," said another fan. "Knicks are doing it big."
It's obviously way too early to make any decision on the hire until we can see some results. However, if the Knicks fail to return to the Conference Finals under Brown, Knicks fans won't be happy, especially since the early sentiment isn't positive.
