Beloved halftime performer Red Panda suffers wrist injury after fall

Red Panda, the beloved halftime performer who’s performed at TD Garden during Boston Celtics games, suffered an injury on Tuesday night during the Minnesota Lynx-Indiana Fever Commissioner’s Cup Final.

Red Panda — whose real name is Rong Niu — fractured her left wrist when she fell from her custom 7-foot unicycle, her agent Patrick Figley said in a statement to “The Pat McAfee Show." A statement from Figley revealed the unicycle had a damaged left pedal leading to the fall.

The popular performer, who’s been performing at NBA games since 1993, spent 11 hours in a hospital and underwent a procedure.

Red Panda’s wrist was “severely fractured” for the second time and was recommended to see an orthopedic surgeon when he returns home for a second procedure.

She received plenty of well-wishes, including from Fever star Caitlin Clark.

“Red Panda, if you’re watching, we love you,” Clark said on teammate Sydney Colson’s Instagram live after Indiana’s win.

"Red panda, wants me to Thank all of you for the kind wishes and support, it means the world to her,“ the statement read. ”She much appreciates from her heart the support she is receiving."

Red Panda is a solo performer who entertains the audience by flipping bowls onto her head with her foot while riding on her unicycle.

There’s optimism that Red Panda will be ready to be back on the court during halftime when the 2025-26 NBA season begins.
