Leeds United transfer hint emerges as huge £17m striker claim made

Leeds United have had a busy start to the summer transfer window as they prepare for a return to the Premier League.

Striker Lukas Nmecha has joined on a free transfer from German Bundesliga side Wolfsburg as Daniel Farke seeks reinforcements up front. The Whites have also signed Jaka Bijol from Udinese, with the centre-back arriving at Elland Road for a fee of around £15million.

And on Tuesday the signing of Sebastiaan Bornauw from Wolfsburg for a fee in the region of €6m (£5.1m) was confirmed. So, the question is, what's next for the Whites?

Manor Solomon continues to be a hot topic among supporters with the Tottenham Hotspur loanee returning to his parent club after impressing this season. Below is a look at the latest stories surrounding Leeds as well as a view on each one.

Lecce director Pantaleo Corvino confirms Leeds-linked Nikola Krstovic may want to move on this summer.

“We’ll try to take into account a cycle that, in many ways and for many players, may be over,” he said via SOSFanta.

“I’m talking about players who have helped us achieve extraordinarily important goals over the last three years. Falcone, Baschirotto, Ramadani and Krstovic. They may also have their reasons for saying that Lecce allowed them to prove themselves, and now they want to take the next step.

“We cannot ignore their wishes, so we can only replace them once they leave. If we have an important player considering leaving, we must wait to see what happens to replace them. This makes our transfer market more difficult, not easier.”

LeedsLive says: "The Whites are likely to face competition for Krstovic this summer, and that may result in a bidding war. The 25-year-old is unproven at the highest level, however, and there have to be question marks over his suitability for Premier League football."

Krstovic 'not convinced'

Lecce forward Nikola Krstovic is reportedly not convinced on a move for Leeds and is waiting for an Italian club to come in for him.

According to claims in Calcio Lecce, Krstovic is not enthusiastic about the move to Leeds and Elland Road. It is said they showed the first interest in him this summer.

Daniel Farke’s side would reportedly have been willing to exceed €20m (£17m) to buy the forward, but he seemed anything but convinced about the move, it is claimed.

LeedsLive says: "Leeds will have other options if Krstovic is not convinced. Chucking money at a player to convince them is never the answer, as the Whites need players committed to the club beyond solely financial incentives."
