Liverpool return for pre-season in just five days and there is plenty for supporters to be excited about.
While last year brought a first look at Arne Slot, this time Reds fans’ will get a sneak preview of some exciting new signings.
And although it will be fascinating to see all of Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Giorgi Mamardashvili take their first steps as Liverpool players, Florian Wirtz is the big-ticket item.
Wirtz became the most expensive player in Liverpool history after arriving from Bayer Leverkusen in June. If all goes well his addition could yet break the British transfer record.
There is significant pressure on Wirtz to live up to that price-tag, but what will surely help is that he will be through the door on day one of pre-season at the Liverpool training ground.
And as he prepares to meet his new teammates and begin his career at Anfield, Wirtz has made sure he’s looking smart with a fresh new haircut.

Florian Wirtz gets pre-season ready
Liverpool’s first match of the 2025/26 season is now just 10 days away. The Reds’ trip to Preston North End on Saturday July 13th is likely to mark Wirtz’s debut with the club.
Before then, the German has been holidaying with friends. And as he posted on his Instagram stories on Wednesday, Wirtz has still had time for a trim.

Posting a shirtless selfie with his barber Meher Siala, the Liverpool man added a praise emoji, along with a little lion.
With his hair already cropped back, Wirtz has neatened things up further with an even shorter style.

Meanwhile, eagle-eyed supporters may also have noticed that Wirtz is not the only Liverpool player coming back to training with a new look.
As Cody Gakpo surprisingly revealed in an Instagram post last week, he has gone bleach blonde ahead of his third summer camp with Liverpool. We did not see that coming.
Darwin Nunez also went viral earlier this summer after he posted a snap of his trademark long hair shaved completely off. It is likely to be a new start for Nunez in more ways than one.
Will Darwin Nunez join Wirtz for pre-season?
While Wirtz and Gakpo will show off their new looks at the Liverpool training ground on Tuesday, there may be rather more question marks over whether Nunez will do the same.

Liverpool’s pre-season schedule 2025
Liverpool’s No. 9 has been heavily linked with a move to Napoli, and Rousing The Kop understands that negotiations are still ongoing between the two clubs over a fee.
Nevertheless, as journalist Graeme Bailey has explained to RTK, this is unlikely to mean Nunez does not report for pre-season training on Tuesday.
“He’s not one of those players who Liverpool will be forcing to train with the reserves or anything like that,” says Bailey. “I do expect him to go but it was always going to be the fee that was an issue there. We’re still there at this point.
“Nunez will be back, like Federico Chiesa will be back as well, it’s not a huge falling out or anything.”
