‘I like things when they are difficult’: 43-year-old says he’d love to manage Manchester United now

Manchester United aren’t in a great situation right now, it has to be said.

Indeed, the Red Devils have just recorded their worst-ever Premier League finish, and there are some serious problems at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim has been questioned at times, and if he doesn’t get off to a good start next season he could be on the chopping block.

United could soon be looking for a replacement for Ruben Amorim if things don’t change, and now, a potential candidate has thrown his hat into the ring.

Indeed, speaking on The Overlap, Nemanja Vidic has claimed that he would love to manage Manchester United right now.

Nemanja Vidic would love to manage Manchester United

The 43-year-old was asked which team he would like to manage if he had the chance right now.

Vidic was quick to choose Manchester United, claiming that he’d love the challenge of turning the Red Devils around from their current predicament.

Vidic has never managed a club, but we’ve seen big-name former players parachuted into top jobs before without much experience such as Mikel Arteta and Steven Gerrard.

“Who would you like to manage or coach if you had the chance?” Vidic was asked.

“Man United now, I like things when they are difficult. To change things from difficult to good, this is what I like to do, yeah,” Vidic said.

Nemanja Vidic wants to become a manager

Of course, these comments are very hypothetical, and, at the moment, Vidic is a million miles away from getting the Manchester United job.

However, the Serbian has expressed his desire to become a manager one day, speaking to ESPN.

“I worked for Alex Ferguson for quite a few years,” Vidic said. “The way he did it means that a lot of his players want to be managers themselves. He made it look easy and nice and you watch and think, ‘I would like to do that.’

“But then I went to play in Italy and then it didn’t look as easy, so I ask myself if it is right to go this way.

“But I know I want to try so I will try. All my life I have played football, 28 years. It’s what I know. I have some knowledge I think. I had about 15 managers, so I would like to try to use my knowledge and be in the game.”

Vidic was one of the best defenders around in his pomp, winning the Champions League and numerous Premier League titles with Manchester United.

The Serbian is certainly a natural leader, and who knows? Perhaps one day he could well end up in the Old Trafford dugout.
