Newcastle United are prepared to hold out for “crazy” money as they have no desire to let Tino Livramento leave St James’ Park this summer.
That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Eddie Howe values the 22-year-old as a crucial part of his plans.
Meanwhile, the Magpies have so far struggled to land targets in the transfer market, adding further emphasis to their desire to keep hold of their best players.
Brown told Football Insider on 1 July that Man City could accelerate their interest in Livramento after his impressive displays for England at the Under-21 Euros.
Pep Guardiola’s side are planning their next steps after identifying the England international as their top target to replace Kyle Walker at right-back.
This comes after Football Insider revealed in February that Newcastle are not planning to sell Livramento, but could be forced to accept offers if their financial situation calls for it.

Newcastle make Tino Livramento decision amid Man City interest
Brown told Football Insider in March that Newcastle are bracing to receive offers for Livramento and work has already begun on identifying replacements.
However, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted the Magpies are now prepared to do all they can to keep him.
“*They’re finding it difficult in the market so far,*” he told Football Insider.
“For whatever reason, they’re struggling to bring in their top targets.
“That makes it even more important for Eddie Howe to keep hold of their best players, and that’s what they will be wanting to do.
“By retaining those players, it might help to recruit new faces to come and join them.
“There’s been the talk about Livramento going to Man City, but they won’t let that happen.
“They are determined to keep their younger players especially, and they want to be seen to be doing everything they can to keep him at the club.
“Unless somebody makes a crazy offer for him, they have no intention of letting him go.
“Plus, for what it’s worth, I wouldn’t expect anybody to make the kind of offer they’d want.”

Alexander Isak contract update emerges at St James’ Park
Alongside their ambitions of keeping Livramento at the club, Newcastle are aiming to do the same with Alexander Isak amid interest from Liverpool.
Brown told Football Insider on 2 July that Newcastle are confident of agreeing a new contract for Isak and progress has been made in talks with the striker.
Despite interest from the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal, the Magpies have no intention of letting him go and there is a “good feeling” terms will be agreed.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider in March that Newcastle want Isak to sign a new contract and are doing everything they can to reach an agreement.
