Giannis reportedly shut down a major Bucks trade

Giannis Antetokounmpo personally blocked a trade that would have sent Khris Middleton to the Miami Heat in exchange for Jimmy Butler, insisting the deal shouldn't happen.

Giannis Antetokounmpo recently got a new co-star big man in Myles Turner. However, for that to happen, the Milwaukee Bucks had to waive and stretch Damian Lillard—a move that reportedly didn't sit well with Giannis.

Still, according to NBA reporter John Henson, the Greek Freak isn't the type to interfere with front office decisions. When Giannis was younger, the team would often ask him about potential player moves, and he would simply say, "Listen, do your job."

There was, however, one notable exception. Giannis stepped in to block a trade involving his former teammate Khris Middleton that would have sent him to the Miami Heat.

"There was a trade. Khris Middleton for Jimmy Butler swap, and Giannis was like, 'Nah, we're not doing that.' That was the only time I ever saw him stand up and say something," Henson said on SiriusXM. "If something's wrong, he will say something, but for the most part, the front office will do its thing."

Despite having spent all 12 seasons of his career with Milwaukee, winning an NBA championship in 2021, Giannis' future with the Bucks remains uncertain.

For the first time, he is reportedly exploring other options, though there are conflicting reports that he wants to stay.

Giannis is under contract with Milwaukee through the 2026–27 season and has a $62 million player option for 2027–28. His deal does not include a no-trade clause.
