Xapo Bank has become an Official Partner of Aston Villa Football Club in a move that underscores the private bank’s broader ambitions in the UK and across global markets. The partnership aligns Xapo with one of the Premier League’s most prominent clubs, leveraging the team’s 358 million fans to expand its reach in Bitcoin-powered private banking.
Founded in 2013, Xapo has built a reputation as one of the earliest and most security-focused Bitcoin custodians. Often referred to as the “Fort Knox of Bitcoin,” it gained early credibility through its use of Swiss bunkers and advanced encryption. The institution secured a banking license and passported its operations into the UK in August 2024. Members now benefit from regulated banking services integrated with crypto functionality, including interest-bearing Bitcoin accounts and tools for managing long-term digital wealth.
“Together, we’re bringing the promise of Bitcoin to a global stage, one fan at a time”
The partnership with Aston Villa marks a strategic communications move for Xapo at a time when Bitcoin is gaining renewed interest from retail and institutional investors. The Premier League’s global broadcast reach, exceeding 253 million viewers, positions the bank to promote its services across high-visibility channels.
Xapo Bank will also serve as Aston Villa’s Official Pre-Season Tour Partner. This includes sponsorship of the club’s 2025 U.S. tour, beginning July 26 with a match against Eintracht Frankfurt in Louisville. Xapo branding will appear on pitchside LED boards and dugout headrests throughout the upcoming 2025/2026 season.
Seamus Rocca, CEO of Xapo Bank, said, “Aston Villa is a club on the rise; ambitious and unafraid to challenge the status quo. And that is the same mentality we have here at Xapo. Like Villa, we’re not chasing fleeting headlines. We see Bitcoin as grounded in undeniable performance, built for the future. We’re focused on playing the long game and building something that lasts. Together, we’re bringing the promise of Bitcoin to a global stage, one fan at a time.”
Adrian Filby, Chief Commercial Officer of Aston Villa, commented, “We are delighted to be partnering with Xapo, an organisation whose vision for success aligns with Aston Villa’s long-term strategic thinking. They are at the leading edge of Bitcoin, and we look forward to enjoying a close and fruitful relationship where both parties can benefit from growth and exposure.”
The collaboration extends Xapo Bank’s UK outreach, following its November 2024 “Security Matters” campaign, which featured a takeover of London’s Bank Station. As the bank continues to position itself at the intersection of regulated finance and crypto, the Aston Villa partnership is expected to drive both brand awareness and member growth among globally engaged football fans.
