Liverpool star Diogo Jota has heartbreakingly passed away in a car crash this morning.

Some things are bigger than football, and certainly bigger than rivalry, of which Everton and Liverpool have both certainly had a lot of in the past.

One thing for certain is that the footballing community is one huge family in times of need, and today will certainly be a time where that sentiment is echoed.

Liverpool FC have today confirmed that Portuguese superstar Jota has tragically died in a car crash, with millions already taking to social media to pass on their messages, including Ashley Young.

Jota passing brings football community together

Ashley Young departed Everton this summer, but throughout his time with the Toffees, he will have become fully aware of the passion that races through this city, for both sides.

Liverpool have found more success as of late, and Jota has played an influential role in that. His sudden, heartbreaking passing in a car accident has sent everyone into mourning.

Young, taking to X to pass on his condolences, said: “RIP Diogo Jota and André Silva. So Sad to hear.”

Thousands upon thousands of football supporters from all around the world have already expressed their sympathy at his passing, which has left the entire community shellshocked.

Jota was just 28 years old when he passed, leaving behind a newly-wedded wife and three kids. It is incomprehensible how they will be feeling at a time like this, but the love and support from fans all around the world will be more than appreciated.

The Portuguese international stamped his authority on English football with Wolves and Liverpool, while also helping Portugal to the latest Nations League triumph.

His infectious personality saw him become a fan favourite on Merseyside, and it just goes to show how precious life really is.
