Diogo Jota's five best moments at Liverpool, including iconic goal against Man United

Since joining Liverpool from Wolves in 2020, Diogo Jota quickly established himself as a fan favourite and a key part of Liverpool’s success under Jurgen Klopp.

Diogo Jota’s dream debut vs Arsenal (September 2020)

Jota made the perfect start to life at Liverpool, scoring on his Premier League debut for the club in September 2020.

He came off the bench in the latter stage of the match with Liverpool leading 2-1 and secured all three points with a brilliant goal.

Luiz’s clearance from a corner came straight to Jota who was at the edge of the box. He controlled it with his chest and then fired in a volleyed shot that went straight past Leno.

First hat-trick for Liverpool vs Atalanta (November 2020)

Just a few weeks after joining Liverpool, Jota announced himself in Europe with a sensational hat-trick against Atalanta in the Champions League.

With quick pace, intelligent movement and clinical finishing, he gave fans a taste of what was to come. The first goal was a brilliant dink over the goalkeeper, the second a fantastic first touch and a volleyed finish, while the third was sheer intelligence, making the perfect run, beating the goalkeeper and finishing into the empty net.

The performance confirmed that he was far more than just a backup to the famed front three of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

In 2021, Jota helped Liverpool win against Manchester United, sparking a comeback after the Reds went a goal down early in the game.

But Jota scored the equaliser with an extremely clever flick finish. The goal was huge as they went on to score three more goals, winning 4-2. The win was massive for Liverpool’s push for a top-four finish.

Jota also scored against Man United during their 5-0 thrashing of their rivals at Old Trafford.

Two goals vs Arsenal in the League Cup semi-finals (January 2022)

Jota loved playing against Arsenal while at Liverpool. In the 16 games he played against the Gunners, Jota scored seven goals and assisted another five across all competitions.

This included a brace against them in the Premier League in the 2020-21 season and another brace in the League Cup semi-final in the 2021-22 season.

The performance in the semis held more significance not only because it helped Liverpool advance to the finals and eventually win the competition, but also because it saw him step up in the absence of Salah and Mane, who were absent due to AFCON.

Dramatic last-minute winner vs Tottenham (April 2023)

One of his best moments for the club came against Tottenham in 2023, as he scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner for Liverpool to help them beat Tottenham

Liverpool were three goals ahead in the first quarter of the match but Tottenham put on a solid fight to make it 3-3, with Richarlison scoring the equaliser for Spurs in the 93rd minute.

But just when they thought they had earned a point, Jota scored a dramatic 94th-minute winner just seconds after Tottenham’s equaliser.

It was a moment of pure instinct from Jota, taking advantage of a defensive mistake to slot it home, sparking incredible scenes.
