Nottingham Forest are set to demand in excess of £60million to sell Anthony Elanga this summer amid interest from Newcastle United.
That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Nuno Espirito Santo is reluctant to lose the 23-year-old.
This comes after Eddie Howe’s side saw a £45million offer for the winger rejected, and they are now weighing up whether to return with a fresh bid.
Brown told Football Insider last month that Elanga wants to join Newcastle as the Magpies are preparing to open talks over a move this summer.
However, Forest view the Sweden international as a key part of their plans for the future as they begin preparations for their Europa Conference League campaign.
As a result, Brown told Football Insider that Newcastle have set their sights on Noni Madueke after being put off by Forest’s lofty valuation of Elanga.

Nottingham Forest make Anthony Elanga decision
Brown told Football Insider on 13 June that Forest are working to identify replacements for Elanga amid ongoing speculation about his future at the City Ground.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted Forest will set a high asking price if they must sell Elanga this summer.
“Forest are going to demand a huge fee for Elanga,” he told Football Insider.
“Ideally, they’d like to keep him because he’s been a big part of their progress this season.
“Having those direct wingers has allowed them to play the way they do.
“I don’t know the exact terms of his contract, but I believe when Man United let him go, they had a clause in there that they get a percentage of his future sales.
“From Newcastle’s offer of £45million, Forest would’ve owed probably at least £5million of that to United.
“So if they must sell him, they want to bump up that price and make the most money they can.
*“From what I hear, it’ll take at least £60million for them to accept an offer.*“

James McAtee update emerges at the City Ground
Alongside speculation about potential outgoing players at the City Ground, they have also set their sights on strengthening the squad ahead of the new season.
Brown told Football Insider that, alongside a number of top clubs, Nottingham Forest sent scouts to watch James McAtee at the Under-21s European Championships.
However, Brown told Football Insider on 1 July that McAtee is set to snub English clubs in favour of a move to the Bundesliga this summer.
The likes of Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen have been keeping tabs on his progress and are now prepared to make moves.
