Sources: Man Utd make huge decision on next Bryan Mbeumo bid

Manchester United are preparing to make their final offer for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, GIVEMESPORT sources understand.

The Red Devils are keen to strengthen their squad this summer for manager Ruben Amorim after a disappointing campaign in 2024/25, which saw them finish 15th in the Premier League and lose the Europa League final, leaving them without European football for the next season.

Despite that, they are favourites to sign the Cameroon international, who has told Brentford and other interested clubs that he only wants to move to Old Trafford, but so far a deal has yet to be agreed.

GIVEMESPORT sources understand that discussions between the two clubs restarted on Sunday, with Man United preparing all the details of how far they can realistically go on the deal.

Their opening bid of £45m + £10m in add-ons was rejected, before a second bid of £55m + £7.5m in add-ons was also turned down, with the west London club believing he is worth more than what Man Utd paid for Matheus Cunha earlier in the window.

These numbers are part of ongoing discussions to gauge exactly how close they are to satisfying Brentford, who have begun to brief that they believe the player could yet stay.

Updates over a deal have been slow because United really want to get the next offer right, and the belief is that if their next bid is rejected, they could walk away from the deal and move on to other targets.

GIVEMESPORT sources understand that the club had set an internal deadline of Friday for the deal to be done, so that the winger could join the club for the start of pre-season on Monday. However, as things stand, there is no agreement in place and that won't happen.

Manchester United are also very cautious of overpaying for the 25-year-old, who has been described as 'ridiculous' and 'insane', because of the message it would send to other clubs.

The club have sent out strong messages in recent months and INEOS have openly criticised the previous regime for caving in to the demands of teams on high-profile transfers, so won't want to repeat those mistakes.
