Rangers pay tribute as Liverpool star Diogo Jota dies aged 28 in car crash

Rangers have sent a message on social media after Liverpool confirmed the death of Diogo Jota.

The Reds released a statement to reveal that the Portugal international has passed away at 28 years old after being involved in a car accident.

Emergency services were called out to Cernadilla, in the province of Zamora, in the early hours of Thursday morning (3 July), with two fatalities confirmed.

The passing of Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, has sent vibrations throughout football and beyond, with the Ibrox club now sharing their condolences.

There is no getting away from how much of a popular figure the forward was both on the pitch and as a person outside of the game.

As a result, it is little surprise to see such an outpouring of emotion after news of his devastating passing dropped just two weeks after his wedding.

This has recently seen the Liverpool star share images of himself, his wife and their three children in front of the altar in Porto.

This just goes to show how fragile life can be, with this happiness being suddenly cut short in the most horrific of situations.

In response to this, many clubs, players and other personalities have reached out to share an emotional message, with Rangers being the latest in a long line.

Taking to X, their message read, “Everyone at Rangers passes on their sincere condolences to Diogo’s family and all at Liverpool at this terribly sad time.”

This is the exact case for Jota, who has now passed and left his children and wife behind in devastating fashion, just weeks after an excellent season came to an end.
