Leeds United 'make move' for Juventus star as approach claim made

Leeds United were last month linked with an interest in Juventus forward Timothy Weah, with the player looking destined to leave Serie A this summer as a number of clubs circle the USA international. Weah has already rejected a move to Nottingham Forest this summer according to one report, with Bournemouth and Everton also credited as being in the race to sign the player.

Now, there is a suggestion Leeds have made an official enquiry to Juventus as the Whites explore whether the club and player are interested in holding talks regarding a switch to Elland Road. That's according to Tutto Juve journalist Mirko Di Natale, who is reporting French side Marseille are also interested in the former PSG wide man.

Di Natale wrote on X: “My news is that Leeds have inquired about Timothy Weah. Everton are also still very interested in the player, as is Marseille in Ligue 1.”

The interest in Weah would suggest Leeds are not convinced they can get Manor Solomon back to the club from Tottenham Hotspur, although he could play through the middle if called upon. The 25-year-old played a majority of games for Juventus last season with a return of six goals and five assists, while also showing his versatility by playing as a striker, left winger and at full-back.

The USA forward had been left out of the Juventus squad for their 5-2 defeat to Manchester City in the Club World Cup last week after the Serie A giants had agreed a deal to sell him and Samuel Mbangula to Forest, before that deal fell down.
