Daniel Farke is the one who has pushed for Max Wöber’s departure from Leeds United this summer, having been left unimpressed by the defender’s attitude.
That’s [according to Austrian journalist Peter Linden](https://peterlinden.live/max-woeber-wieder-in-gruen-weiss-der-15-oesterreicher-bei-werder-bremen/) who covers Wöber’s imminent departure to Werder Bremen and how it has come about.
He reports that Wöber already knew that Leeds wanted to sell him this summer, long before the deal with Bremen was done. It was that which led to his comments admitting as much publicly.
That’s because Leeds manager Daniel Farke was left angry with the defender for leaving Elland Road on loan after their relegation to the Championship in 2023. He had wanted the defender to stay and instead he headed to Borussia Mönchengladbach on loan rather than helping Leeds try to secure promotion.
That deal wasn’t made permanent, and he returned to Leeds last season but made just nine appearances in all competitions totalling 395 minutes. That was largely due to injuries, but he also wasn’t a part of Farke’s plans.
Now they’ve secured promotion back to the Premier League and it seems Farke wants the Austrian defender gone permanently.
Hence the deal with Bremen being done this week, with a report today explaining it’s being done for €2-3m.
