Manchester United have made an approach to sign Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, a report from CaughtOffside has claimed.
The Red Devils are looking to bolster their forward line ahead of Ruben Amorim’s first full season at Old Trafford and are believed to have earmarked the ‘world-class’ England international as a potential option.
Villa are said to be open to selling Watkins amid their difficult PSR situation this summer and are demanding a fee in excess of £60m for their star forward.
United are believed to be prepared to meet this valuation and bring in Watkins as a replacement for Rasmus Hojlund, who has been linked with a return to Italy.

According to CaughtOffside, Man United could face competition from several Premier League clubs amid Watkins’ sudden availability on the market, as Arsenal and Chelsea are also believed to be keen.
The Gunners, who had a £40m bid rejected in January, remain interested and could revisit the deal should they fail to land their primary striker targets in the coming weeks.
Amorim, meanwhile, sees Watkins as a perfect fit for his system and another Premier League-proven star who could add extra quality to his side immediately.
United have already welcomed Wolves star Matheus Cunha as their first arrival last month and remain working on a move to sign Brentford ace Bryan Mbeumo.
Talks are believed to be ongoing for the Cameroonian’s arrival on a long-term deal, after he gave the green light to an Old Trafford move despite an opportunity to reunite with former boss Thomas Frank at Tottenham.
