Aberdeen send Diogo Jota condolences after Liverpool star's tragic passing

Aberdeen have sent their condolences to Liverpool after the tragic news that striker Diogo Jota had died in a car crash in northern Spain.

The striker, who recently celebrated winning both the Premier League and the UEFA Nations League, and his brother Andre Silva were travelling in a Lamborghini in the Zamora area of the country.

The car is said to have veered off the road during an overtaking manoeuvre due to a tyre blowout and subsequently caught fire at around 12.30am local time on Thursday.

The heartbreaking event unfolded less than a fortnight after Diogo's wedding, with the 28-year-old leaving behind wife Rute Cardoso and their three children.

A club spokesperson said on Thursday: "Liverpool Football Club are devastated by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota. The club have been informed the 28-year-old has passed away following a road traffic accident in Spain along with his brother, Andre.
