Prince William has paid tribute to Diogo Jota after a horror crash killed the Liverpool ace and his brother.
Heir to the throne William, a passionate football fan and patron of the Football Association (FA), wrote a personal message on social media in tribute to the Portuguese international. He said: "As part of the footballing family, I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Diogo Jota and his brother.
"Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who knew him @LFC @Wolves. W." The 28-year-old Liverpool star died in a car accident on Thursday alongside his brother Andre, 26.
The pair crashed at around 00:30 local time in the Spanish province of Zamora. Police have said the car they were in – a Lamborghini – left the road due to a tyre blowout while overtaking another vehicle.
Their car then caught fire, with a picture now showing the harrowing condition it was left in. It has now been confirmed that Spanish authorities are investigating the devastating crash as a "possible speeding incident".
