Maximilian Wober looks set to leave Leeds United this summer.

The Austrian international has struggled to cement a permanent starting spot at Elland Road since he joined the Yorkshire club in 2023.

As a result, Wober looks set to join Werder Bremen on a permanent basis this summer, ending his stay at Leeds United.

This comes despite Wober’s performances for the Austrian national team as the centre-back looks to get his career back on track.

Farke ‘angry’ at Wober’s loan move in the 2023/24 campaign

Wober initially joined Leeds when the Yorkshire club were fighting for Premier League survival.

The 27-year-old played 16 matches in the division but was unable to prevent their eventual relegation.

As a result, the centre-back opted to go out on loan to Borussia Mönchengladbach in the following campaign rather than help Leeds fight for promotion.

Wober did play a part in Leeds’ promotion campaign last season

According to Peter Linden (2 July), this decision angered Daniel Farke as he wanted the defender to stay at Elland Road.

Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the German is willing to sell Wober this window, despite the ability he holds.

Leeds must get rid of dead weight this summer

While the sale of Wober does feel like a missed opportunity, if Farke does not want him, then Leeds are right to get rid.

Now, the Peacocks must look to do the same with many of their other forgotten stars.

Players such as Patrick Bamford are not good enough to compete in the Premier League, and Leeds have to cash in to help save wages and bring in some extra cash.

If not, it will be a wasted opportunity and will end up costing the Yorkshire club millions.

Hopefully, Farke has plans in place to rid himself of many of these stars before the window ends.
