Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, 28, and his brother Andre Silva tragically died in a car crash in Spain on Thursday morning.
His former manager Jurgen Klopp paid an emotional tribute on Instagram, expressing heartbreak and remembering Jota as a fantastic player and a great friend. “This is a moment where I struggle,” he wrote.
Jota had recently won the Premier League with Liverpool and the Nations League with Portugal, and was married less than two weeks ago with three children.
He scored 65 goals in 182 appearances for Liverpool, contributing to two Carabao Cups and one FA Cup under Klopp.
Tributes have poured in from numerous football figures, including Cristiano Ronaldo, and Uefa will hold a minute's silence at Euro 2025 matches in the brothers’ memory.
